Hu-Friedy Programs 1.THE 5 KEYS FOR WORKING WITH EASE REDUCE MUSCULO-SKELETAL STRESS & STRAIN WITH EFFECTIVE USE OF HAND INSTRUMENTS This
course will focus on the interrelationship between cumulative trauma
disorders and instrumentation techniques. A variety of hands-on
activities utilizing a wide array of dental instruments with typodonts
will give participants the opportunity to discover new approaches to
providing routine dental hygiene procedures to help reach peak
performance with minimal stress and strain.
The workshop will
provide practical principles for enhancing dexterity, preserving
strength, and increasing confidence when confronting clinical
challenges.
2. NEW DEVICES FOR THE OLD DILEMMA Experience
the relief of finding an EASY and EFFECTIVE method of sharpening
instruments that works for YOU! Please join us for a relaxed, informal,
interactive workshop that highlights some of the latest and greatest
guides, aids, and automated sharpeners that can help you to achieve
sharp cutting edges on your scalers and curets.
You will be guided through a series of “hands-on” exercises in which you will actively focus on: Simplification of various “manual” sharpening techniques, Utilization of various sharpening guides and aids, and Implementation of new automated POWERED devices.
You
will be provided with all necessary materials and supplies to use
during the workshop, including dulled curets and scalers, Arkansas
stones and oil, ceramic stones, and an acrylic test stick. A variety
of sharpening guides and powered units will also be available for you
to use during this seminar. You will receive a comprehensive manual
detailing a simplified technique for sharpening your instruments with
“hand-held” stones which can be taken to your office or clinic for
quick and easy reference.
You will walk out of this workshop
with a sense of assurance and confidence as a result of your new
perspective and attitude toward sharpening, and the skills to
accomplish the task quickly and easily!
If you would like to
resolve an old dilemma, conquer your frustrations, and ultimately
increase your productivity, then round up your team and join Judy for
a fun and informative session of honing your blades and sharpening your
skills. 3.Let’s Get to the Heart of Ultrasonics This
half-day "hands-on" workshop will provide an opportunity for each
participant to ANALYZE and UTILIZE a variety of ultrasonic scalers
(both magnetostrictive and piezoelectric) on typodonts. The physical
designs of the working ends of the ultrasonic scalers in relation to
the specific objectives of the treatment procedure and the
morphological features of root surfaces will be the focus of the
activity-based exercises. This fast-paced workshop will include
activities involving tactile sensitivity, root anatomy, care and
maintenance, and instrumentation techniques. Guidelines will be
offered to aid the clinician in selecting appropriate inserts to
enhance the delivery of optimal treatment. 4.The Smarter We Work...The Better We Feel Effective Utilization of Dental Instruments to Reduce Physical Stress and Strain (One half day course) This
dynamic half-day seminar is filled with practical, nuts-and-bolts
information...not far-away theories and ideas that don't apply to your
everyday life in the dental office. A guided discussion of topics such
as cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive motion syndrome, and carpal
tunnel syndrome will encourage you to take a new look at yourself, your
hobbies, your career, and your goals. A wide array of dental
instruments will be discussed that will give you the opportunity to
discover new approaches to providing routine dental procedures to help
you reach your peak performance with minimal stress and strain. You
will get the perspective so difficult to gain in your day-to-day, busy
dental practice, but so vital to your health, career and success. 5. DISCOVER THE DIFFERENCES IN HAND INSTRUMENTATION AND ULTRASONIC SCALING This
“hands-on” workshop will focus upon structured exercises allowing you
to compare and contrast instrumentation techniques utilizing a variety
of hand instruments and magnetostrictive ultrasonic inserts. You will
examine and evaluate the design capabilities and limitations of manual
scalers and curets vs. ultrasonic inserts with adaptation to
typodonts. You will discover the distinct differences in mechanical
debridement strategies and techniques, and the ways in which a
combination of ultrasonics and hand instruments will enhance your
ergonomic comfort level and assist you in achieving therapeutic
benefits for your periodontal patients. 6. PARTNERS IN PERIO: HAND INSTRUMENTS AND ULTRASONIC SCALERS Clinical skills required for providing periodontal therapy most effectively and efficiently may be enhanced and strengthened by viewing all your instruments as a total unit rather than as separate entities.
This hands-on all day workshop presents innovative instrument designs, and solution-driven approaches to meet the inevitable challenges of mechanically treating “invisible” root surfaces. Begin by differentiating between the old “Scaling and Root planing” vs.” Debridement”. Discover practical alternatives that you can put to work in the most difficult, frustrating situations. Examine the design characteristics of a variety of hand instruments and magnetostrictive inserts. Match up these specific design features with the various patient challenges that are encountered on a daily basis.
This workshop will provide practical principles for confronting clinical complications with dexterity, skill, and confidence. The appropriate selection of hand instruments combined with ultrasonic scalers will help to maximize your performance, minimize stress, and increase your profession satisfaction level.
